A venue on the New South Wales mid-north coast has been handed a $1,000 fine after hosting a 21st birthday party.
The licensee of a hotel at Tuncurry was issued the penalty infringement notice following an investigation into alleged breaches of COVID-19 Public Health Orders over the weekend.
Officers, who were conducting proactive patrols, attended the venue in Taree on August 8, and “identified a number of potential breaches”.
“A 21st birthday gathering was underway,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Inquiries revealed the party had been booked for ten people, but police say “numerous others were in attendance.”
“Further, social distancing was not being adhered to, in particular in the pub’s gaming area.”
The venue was issued with a $1000 PIN for failure to comply with the noticed direction on August 11.
Further fines could be issued as investigations into the planned birthday party continue.
